Aboveground    Fuel  Tanks

The Federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that there are more than 100,000 leaking underground tanks in the United States. The EPA has mandated that all underground tanks installed before December 22, 1988 must be upgraded or replaced to provide protection against corrosion, spills, and overfill by December 22, 1998, or be properly closed.

All levels of government have issued strict guidelines for the installation, operation, and removal of underground tanks. Many insurance companies have pollution exclusions in liability, leaving owners open to large financial damages. Above ground tanks are less expensive to purchase and install, and they provide the ability to detect and correct leaks and problems more quickly than their underground counterparts.

Vertical style tanks occupy less space and are more cost effective than the horizontal style. Available in a variety of sizes, including low-profiles for restrictive height ordinance areas. Also available in single and double wall construction. Standard units include emergency and normal ventilation connections, and fill and suction connections. Custom sizes and fitting requirements are easily accommodated. Standard sizes to 20,000 gallons. All fuel tanks are UL 142 labeled, as required by many fire protection districts.
